Christmas Greetings

10 merry 2
Dear sponsors, volunteers, friends and all the people who care about the Havonos Foundation.

2021 is almost over. It is just about Christmas. Shortly after that we will celebrate the entrance of 2022, without fireworks, but full of memories of an eventful year. Not a day went by that we were weren’t confronted with news about COVID19 and for some of us and for some of you it has become a ruling factor in our lives.

A pandemic. The consequences can be seen across the whole world, including in Sri Lanka, the island that we care so much about. We think of the people of Northern Sri Lanka, still living with the consequences of the 2004 tsunami and the recent civil war. Corona has also hit Northern Sri Lanka very hard. Many people have not been able to go to work, because of the lock down. No work means no income. No income means no money for the basic necessities of life, such as food and personal hygiene. Next to the regular projects of the foundation, we have also been trying to provide emergency relief aid for the most needy through the Fathers at OMI. We couldn’t have done this without you! Many thanks to all of you: our compassionate sponsors, the supermarkets who have given so freely, our volunteers, each person who has helped and supported our mission this past year!

We thank you all deeply, also on behalf of the Fathers at OMI and the people of Northern Sri Lanka. Together we wish you wonderful Holidays and a healthy and happy New Year! We hope you will continue to support out foundation in 2022.

Warm greetings from us to you on behalf of the board of the Havonos Foundation,

Sieni Schouten, chairwoman

P.S. Would you like to know more about the latest project we worked on in collaboration with 'Wilde Ganzen' and OMI? Then view the collages that you will find here. (text in Dutch)
