Time flies. The first quarter of 2017 is already over! It is about time for a new news release.
Our new website!
Have you recently visited our website? It is absolutely worth it! We are very proud with the wonderful result. Hinse van Dijk of Buro In Petteau (www.inpetteau.nl), designed and realized the site for us, together with his wife Anika. They spent many hours of free time and we are so grateful to them. The site has been completely updated, which makes it easy to watch it on tablet and smartphone. So we can go ahead for years. Hinse and Anika, thank you very much! The website is now again owned by our own webmaster Noël Peters who has also been involved in the new website. Noel, you deserve a compliment, because you are always there for us, thanks and good luck!
Visit of Gerdien and Arnoud De Zwart - Kleinburink to the projects (part 2)
In the previous news article we told you about the visit of Gerdien and Arnoud de Zwart from Raalte to the Havonos/ OMI projects during their holiday in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, there has been a beautiful article by Ria Willemse in the newspaper 'De Stentor' about it. Read the article here (in Dutch). The visit made a deep impression on them, which is apparent from the fact that the couple has decided to financially support a peanut farm, run by widows of the previous widow project. We think that's fantastic and wish them success with this project!
Donation of € 3,000 from Hofsteestichting from Alkmaar
The Hofsteestichting has been active as a donor and financial support partner for charities in the Netherlands and developing countries since 1960. We have submitted an application to them and then received € 3,000 for the renovation of the orphanage Anna's Home. With that money we can do a lot, so we are very grateful to the foundation.
Elementary School The Horizon in Raalte performs a (fasting) action for Havonos
We are so proud of the students, teachers and parents of elementary school De Horizon in Raalte. They intened the proceeds of their fasting action this year for the orphanage Anna's Home and they have been doing their best for that. With swimming and running, they brought together an amount of € 2,798.50.

State of affairs of the Learning and working farm for widows
The first money has been transferred to Sri Lanka and the realization of the Learning and working farm where widows are going to learn to work on the land and take care of cattle, has begun. We are so proud of this beautiful project that is a direct follow-up to our previous widow project. Do you remember? We realized the previous widow project, also together with Wild Geese, in 2015/2016. We had the opportunity to receive Stöppelhaene's gift in 2015.
During the realization of the project we found out that there is no clean water for both drinking and irrigation of the land. It is also the wish to provide a solid education to the widows. The request for funding for water and education, like the one for the Learning and working farm itself, was submitted to the Wild Geese and then honored. We expect that this year's first widows will benefit from this. Of course we will keep you updated on this project.
First aid: renovation of orphanage Anna's Home
In the previous news article we wrote about the grievous circumstances in which Sister Chrishani, together with her colleague, offers a loving and safe home to 75 orphans. The house turns out to have a very bad construction and there was no money to fix it. We are very pleased to be able to show you the first pictures of the renovation work to the kitchen. The beginning is there, but there is still a lot to do. Will you help us? Thank you very much!
