First an introduction
These are the last days of the year 2016, in Holland the so called ‘dark days before Christmas’. When we look back at 2016, we see the many bright spots we have known as foundation Havonos overshadowed by the death of Cor Schouten, the beloved husband of our president Sieni.
Sieni especially, but also the board members of Havonos feel the missing of Cor. His humor and practical nature meant so much for us and to the people of Sri Lanka.
Carla and Martin Joziasse, a few days ago, returned from their holiday in Sri Lanka. They visited our projects and also the beautiful and respectful memorial place for Cor.
We will not forget Cor and Sri Lanka, the people he has devoted himself so ardently, either.

Donation Maripaan Teaming Drachten
Maripaan Teaming Foundation is the charitable project of the Maripaan Group, a franchise organization of 14 Jumbo supermarkets in Friesland. Together with the employees and the customers the supermarkets raise money for a charity each period. Havonos also has been chosen as a charity. This means that we received a sum of € 486,10 as a contribution for the purchase of a professional printer for OBTEC. This printer makes the work in our projects easier. With this printer teaching materials for the different courses in our community centers can be made. It also saves considerably the costs because the material is very expensive.

Project Rabobank-Share4More
Another employee fund: Rabobank Share4More! Rabobank employees who choose to donate a small amount of their salary to Share4More. Share4More thereby supports various projects at home and abroad. Havonos also received a donation: € 13,579!! With this money, various vocational courses among others were organized in the community centers in Mullikulam and Kokilai. It were courses for fishermen, farmers, and sewing and personal care courses for women. This was a very successful project that we could terminate in September. The final report has been received with enthusiasm by Share4More. We got already the message that we can send a new project proposal in 2017.

New application at Wild Geese: learning / working farm widows
Very briefly: this is our largest project ever! Together with Wild Geese we are starting a learning / working farm for the widows involved in an earlier project of ours, namely the women who received earlier an animal or seed in order to provide for their livelihood. In 2017 we will organize various new activities to realize this project. We hope we can count again on your interest and contributions.

Collaboration with Medi-Aid
Already for several months we maintain a warm contact with Martin and Carla Joziasse of Medi-Aid foundation. This newsletter already mentioned the name of Martin and Carla. Their foundation is also active in Sri Lanka, in particular on projects with a more medical nature and on medical education. In November we had an introductory consultation between the administrations of both Havonos and Medi-Aid for a first exploration of what we can mean for each other.
That consultation was very positive and we hope to tell you more about it in the next newsletter.
Relocation Sister Chrishiani - foster parents
For years Havonos supports the work of the Good Shepherd Sisters led by Sister Chrishiani. She helps young women and girls, often victims of rape, who have become unwantedly pregnant. A while ago we received the news that Sister Chrishiani was transferred to another location in the area of our projects. She now works at the Good Shepherd Children's Home in Mankulam, where she takes care of 75 orphans. We want to support her good work, for example by re-invigorate the sponsor parenting.
Later on we will give you more information about this.
This is the last news letter of this eventful year. We say goodbye to 2016 with a smile and a tear. A tear, because of the great lack of Cor. And yet a laugh, because everything we have been able to achieve together with you, our volunteers, donors and interested people.
That was fantastic and our gratitude is great.
We hope also to welcome you again in 2017 and count on your continuing interest in our work.
