Havonos Foundation and Wild Geese twice on Dutch national television! In our newsletter of November 2017 we told you about Nicolette van Dam who visited Sieni Schouten, chairwoman of Havonos, for recordings for the Dutch TV program ‘Destination’. Subsequently, Nicolette and Wilde Ganzen visited Sri Lanka with a film crew, where they took pictures of our projects. The Bestemming (Destination) program, which can be seen on RTL4, shows where funds for help, that have been collected in the Netherlands, go to. This week it was announced that the well-known and popular program Koffietijd, also from RTL4, in the run-up to the broadcast of Bestemming, has invited Sieni and Wilde Ganzen to come and talk in the studio about their work. This broadcast will be on Friday, March 23, in ‘Koffietijd’ at 10:00. In the mean time we were informed about the moment of the broadcast of Bestemming. It will be on Sunday evening, March 25, 2018, at 23:20 on RTL4. Not necessary to say that we hope you all will watch together with us! According to Sieni, this is an excellent opportunity to bring Havonos to the attention of a wider audience. We, as a board, are extremely proud of her and wish her every success. |
Presentation of the Johan Wind Prize to the Havonos Foundation
On Friday, March 9th, chairwoman Sieni Schouten and board member Mirjam van den Berg (the latter also on behalf of the requesting school De Horizon) received with gratitude the Johan Wind prize of € 3,500. This prize is entirely for the benefit of Zr. Chrishani’s orphanage: ‘Anna's Home’. It comes in very useful, because a lot of improvement still needs to be done!

Cooperation with Foundation A Helping Hand (SEHH)

The collaboration with SEHH, which we mentioned in the January newsletter, is starting to take shape more and more. The entire board of SEHH attended a delicious Lunch in Food & drinks Lemonade in Raalte on 4 March, where everyone introduced themselves and the projects were discussed. Then all together we went to the presentation at Henk and Florentina de Weerd and immediately the opportunity was taken to make concrete arrangements. Fantastic!
Landstede Raalte

Musical instruments were bought from the proceeds of the Christmas market organized by MBO Landstede Raalte. YEC director, Father Philip and his pupils are very happy with it. All students and teachers of Landstede, once again, many thanks for your beautiful gift!
The action at the 1% club, including another - urgent - call
After a flying start, crowdfunding for our projects, via the onepercentclub, has stopped for a while. Therefore we remind you for help to make the crowdfunding a succes, by donating yourself, or bringing the project to the attention of your friends and acquaintances. You can find the information on the Facebook page of the Havonos foundation, but you can also go directly to the site via this link: https://onepercentclub.com/nl/projects/van-weeshuis-naar-weesthuis Thank you very much for your help and support!
Presentation Henk and Florentina de Weerd about their Sri Lanka trip
In the newsletter of January 2018 we told you that Havonos directors from the first hour, Henk and Florentina de Weerd, spent their holidays in Sri Lanka, where they also visited the Havonos projects. Enthusiastic about what they have seen and full of stories they came back from their journey. They like to share these stories with everyone and that's why about 20 to 30 employees, volunteers and interested parties were invited to Aspergebedrijf De Weerd in Raalte on 4 March. Beautiful pictures and special stories were shared by Henk and Florentina, which we look back on with pleasure.
Action Primary Schools De Horizon and De Linderte
We are currently living in Lent, until Easter. Miss Mirjam hopes this year to personally hand over the proceeds of the actions of De Horizon. The action of the communicants of the Linderte, of which the festive Holy Mass is the highlight, we still have to wait. It is really heart-warming to see people of the schools in Raalte having such a warm heart for the people of Sri Lanka. We, the board of Havonos, wish Miss Mirjam, and the other teachers of the schools, a successful campaign.
Leaning and work farm

Good news about the construction of the learning-working farm being almost ready now, with the new kitchen and the furnishings! We are very excited to know about the end result!
State of affairs at the orphanage Anna's Home for Children
A lot has happened in and around the orphanage ‘Anna's Home for Children’, but we are not ready yet. The Johan Wind prize, the crowdfunding at the 1% club, the ‘fasting-actie’ at De Horizon and the action of the De Linderte, all these proceeds and promotions are destined for the orphanage. And that is very much needed, because the renovation currently stopped, waiting for new funds. There are several possibilities to donate. Are you helping us?
So far this newsletter. Thank you again for your interest. And don’t forget to look television with us!
On Friday 23 March, at 10:00 to Koffietijd (RTL4)
On Sunday 25 March, at 23:20 to Bestemming (RTL4)
We are, together with you, very exited!
Goodbye! Until the next news items!
