A very big wish from Father Harance, the director of the SieCo center and the school next to the center, has been fulfilled: they have clean and safe drinking water!

What was the case? The well they used was very polluted and unhealthy and many children became sick of drinking the water.

During the war, in 2008/09, people, in this specific area, together with many other victims in Northern Sri Lanka, were forced to leave their homes and villages and were dropped in so-called 'Transit-Camps' .
During that period the area was occupied by soldiers who threw chemicals in the wells, peoples only sources for drinking water.
When the displaced people resettled in their villages, the wells were renovated and handed over to their former owners. But the effects of the chemicals were still there, with disastrous impacts on their health.
At the school and in the SieCo center there was an urgent need for filters to create pure and clean drinking water. With our help they now can drink the water safely. See their happy faces!
